Allow me to say that in my Book of Life many names have been written. Many of these, however, have merely come and gone. Others - unfortunately too few - entered in the first chapter and remain on the scene until today.
Ivan Sedláček, my true friend and an excellent musician, is one of them.A composer is intensely dependent on the interpreter of his work, owing him a debt of gratitude as a midwife of her brainchild. Ivan Sedláček has helped many of my compositions to come into the world. His KANTILÉNA choir is a long-standing cultural asset of our country. We cannot value this work highly enough.
I speak not only of the deep exposure to the arts, but also the direct influence on the young minds of the children who are partly shaped by this project; the experience must affect their entire lives. Seen in this light, directing a children's choir ranks among the most noble of humanistic professions.

For many years we got into the habit of writing or speaking about KANTILENA choir exclusively in superlatives - and that' s just right so. Indeed - each concert is an event expressing pleasure, beauty, ethics. My personal relation to the choir is in a way - "familiar" - I have co-operated on the majority of radio and TV recordings of this ensemble.
So I have had an opportunity to become fully acquainted with its admirable musical potency, with its indeed artistic - and what is all important - continuous work. Because this is the right way how to bring up young people to become future bearers and now and then even creators of our community's culture.
Thanks be for this to KANTILENA and Ivan!

To me, KANTILENA and its choirmaster Ivan Sedláček mean not merely a many years tradition of an excellent pursuit of children's musicality, but particularly a systematic orientation to contemporary music.
Well indeed, the choirmaster provoked the origin of some compositions which have become a steady constituent of KANTILENA's repertoire. I recall the numerous performances of my difficult dual chorus CREATE A SCENERY OF SINGING and I am grateful to all members of the choir. Indeed so many went and came in the course of years!
